Title: Instruction/Liaison Librarian
Department: Coates Library -- Trinity University
Trinity University seeks a dynamic, forward-thinking individual to join its information literacy program. The successful candidate will join a team of energetic, creative librarians whose work earned them the ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries award in 2007. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
The instruction/liaison librarian is one of a team that supports an innovative information literacy program at Trinity University. The University selected information literacy as its Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) reaffirmation of accreditation in 2007. Primary responsibilities include teaching information literacy skills and concepts in assigned liaison areas, working with teaching faculty in those areas to develop departmental-specific objectives, and providing instructionally focused reference service. The position will provide support primarily to humanities and/or social science departments; he or she also will coordinate collection management for government information.
Duties will include collaborative teaching, instruction sessions, workshops, and web-based tutorials. Outreach will be central to this position. One-on-one contact with teaching faculty and departmental workshops tailored to specific disciplines will be expected as will preparation of guides and tools to advance student learning, assigned reference desk or office hours, and collection development in assigned subject areas. This position reports to the Assistant University Librarian/Head of Public Services.
This position will be expected to meet standards of librarianship, scholarship and service for promotion and tenure.
REQUIREMENTS:
Required: ALA-accredited MLS, with significant exposure to information technology and sources. Bachelor's degree in a liberal arts discipline. Excellent interpersonal skills, not only in one-on-one assistance, but also in creating and delivering presentations and developing outreach programs to our users. Knowledge of print and electronic reference sources, as well as skill in searching web-based resources. Strong communication skills, a high energy level and self-confidence are also musts, as is the ability to work effectively and with initiative, both as a team member and as an individual. The successful candidate will demonstrate his or her interest in professional development and faculty activities.
Preferred: Track record of participation in or development of innovative instruction programs, particularly those that use technology to enhance student learning. Evidence of creative approaches to service problems, and an ability to understand and interpret to the teaching faculty students' experience of the library. Experience in teaching or instruction in an academic setting.

Position: Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Chinese

Responsibilities: Teach three undergraduate classes per semester and participate in extra-curricular activities of the Chinese program. POSITION: Assistant Professor of Speech Communication

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach nine undergraduate credit hours each semester in areas of speech communication that complement our curriculum and current faculty, and that capitalize on the interest and expertise of the candidate. The teaching load may include a first-year seminar within our University's common curriculum and will include advising of both majors and non-majors. POSITION: Endowed Professorship in Neurophysics or Biophysics

Trinity University invites applications for the newly-established Williams Endowed Professorship in Neurophysics or Biophysics, to begin in August 2010. This position, along with 3 recently-filled positions (2 senior and 1 junior) in Biology and Psychology, will enrich our undergraduate major in Neuroscience, which has grown from 2 to 40 majors since its inception 4 years ago. The Neuroscience Program at Trinity was established with support from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute

Candidates must have (1) a Ph.D. in Physics, or Neuroscience with a strong Physics component, (2) a current tenured position at the rank of Associate Professor or higher, and (3) a distinguished record of teaching and research. The successful candidate will teach both physics and interdisciplinary neuroscience courses, strongly contribute to the degree program in Neuroscience, and establish a program of forefront research that can include participation by highly motivated and capable undergraduates. The Department of Education at Trinity University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education. The position will begin in Fall, 2010. A candidate for this position should be a scholar-practitioner with a deep commitment to and understanding of the following:
•(1) Teaching children with special needs in inclusive settings;
•(2) The implementation of differentiated classroom instruction;
•(3) Working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations; and
•(4) The practice of field-based teacher education.
We seek also a colleague who shares our values, including commitments to: collaboration, inquiry-based practice, equity, diversity, and social justice, and an apprenticeship model of teacher preparation.
Responsibilities
Contributions to the department, the university, and the community will include (1) teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in human growth and development in the teacher education and school psychology programs (2) advising undergraduate and graduate students (3) partnering with local secondary teachers to support university students in field-based practice in professional development schools (4) collaborating with departmental colleagues on course and program development, (5) conducting research in areas of interest and program development and (6) serving on university, department and program committees. The candidate may be co-teaching courses with faculty in the department to strengthen differentiated instruction components embedded within courses.
Qualifications
Candidates must have:
•1. A Ph.D. in Education, Special Education, Teacher Education, or Educational/School Psychology;
•2. A strong background in special education or in working with children with special needs is required;
•3. Preference will be given to candidates with three years of teaching experience at the middle school and/or high school level. Experience in university teaching and in clinical sites is also desirable;
•4. Certification as a School Psychologist is also preferred;
•5. Strong scholarly interests and a record of accomplishment appropriate to their career stage; and
•6. Strong interpersonal, speaking, writing, organization and time management skills.
Candidates should also be reflective about their own practice, collegial, and committed to work in urban settings with culturally and linguistically diverse students.
