Pass Code Lock Guidelines

When you are issued a Smartphone (iPhone or Blackberry) by Trinity University it is imperative that you enable the password protect feature on the phone. If the password protect feature is not enabled, your university email, calendar, and contacts will be vulnerable to unauthorized usage. In the event your device is lost or stolen, your sensitive data may be used for malicious purposes.

To set a passcode lock on an iPhone:

  • Press the Home button.
  • Press Settings > General > Passcode Lock.
  • Enter a 4-digit code that will serve as your passcode.
  • Enter your passcode again.
  • Press the Home button to exit the screen.
  • To set a password on (most) BlackBerry phones:

  • From the Home screen of the BlackBerry Smartphone, click Options.
  • Click Security Options.
  • Click General Settings. (Note: If you are running BlackBerry Device Software 4.0.2 or earlier, click Options, then Security.)
  • Change the Password field to Enabled.
  • Display the menu and click Save.
  •  Type your new password and click Enter.
  • Verify your new password by typing it again and click Enter.
  • If your University provided phone is lost or stolen you must immediately contact the Director of Telecommunications by email at cynthia.littles@trinity.edu or by phone at (210) 999-7414. It is your responsibility to contact Campus Security and file a lost or stolen property report.
