Production Hardware and Software

The Studios @ CLT are divided into discrete studios by functionality, each featuring high-end Windows- and Macintosh-based workstations and cutting edge applications to help students, faculty, and staff create digital media.

Web Design Studio

The Web Design Studio is designed for creating and developing websites, and creating and editing digital images. It features eight workstations (four PCs and four Macs), all connected to flatbed/film scanners. Software installed on these workstations includes Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium, and specifically on the PC platform, TextBridge for scanning in documents using Optical Character Recognition (OCR).

Video Editing Studio

The Video Editing Studio has been designed to facilitate the creation of original digital video projects as well the conversion of analog format materials to digital. Like the Web Design Studio, it features a combination of Windows and Macintosh workstations with DVD/VHS combination units attached to them.

The Windows workstations are equipped with Sony Vegas Studio for video editing and DVD creation, while the Macintosh machines feature iMovie, iDVD, and Final Cut Express (two workstations only). Video projects created in this studio can be exported out in a variety of formats including burning onto DVDs. We recommend that you use DVD-Rs as the standard format rather than DVD+R or DVD-RW.
